 As members of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS), we are part of a global community made up of 4600 innovators, engineers, technologists, and scientists interested in vehicular technology. One way that members of this community can come together to exchange ideas and knowledge is through local VTS chapters.
According to IEEE, a chapter is a “technical subunit of a Region, one or more Sections, or a Geographic Council established by petition to the parent geographical and technical organizational units." A chapter is affiliated with one or more IEEE technical societies.
Chapters enable members of different societies located within a geographical area to meet, providing "unique opportunities for members to attend technical presentations, create strong peer-to-peer connections, and participate in leadership opportunities that can make a positive distinction in IEEE members' jobs and careers." In other words, joining a local chapter of a technical society is a great way to meet other members and take advantage of services offered by the IEEE technical society.
Here at VTS, we strongly believe that chapters are an excellent way of delivering high quality services and products to our members. Through its 56 chapters worldwide, VTS offers services and activities including technical meetings; presentations focused on the latest technological advances in vehicular technology given by world-renowned experts from our VTS Distinguished Lecturer Program; and community activities such as regional conferences, workshops, and symposia.
