Visitors at the 2019 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, were given the opportunity to teleoperate a 5G-connected T-pod, Einride’s autonomous all-electric truck, which was located at AstaZero, a test site outside Gothenburg, Sweden.
The MWC in Barcelona is said to be the largest mobile event in the world, bringing together more than 2,400 companies.
The newly developed teleoperation system features the ability and technology for operators to remotely control fleets of autonomous electric vehicles. The system includes high-performance adaptive streaming, low-latency cellular networks, stitching, and edge blending.
The system is modular and configurable, allowing it to be tailored to maximize efficiency for specific customer transport flow. The aim is to minimize the cognitive load of the operator while, at the same time, enhancing the efficiency of the tele-operated parts of the automated transport.
