Description: In railways there are many communications systems,
technologies and services. Moreover, the future is also promising because it
receives a lot of attention from researchers all over the world. However, it is
a complex field with many different scenarios (train-to-ground, train-to-train,
etc.), types of services (safety-related, operational, customer-oriented, etc.)
and which needs to involve many parties (wayside equipment, onboard devices,
servers, etc.). In this presentation we address all this issues from the
rolling stock point of view, explaining communications services, systems and
technologies from on board the train.
