Conference Call
IEEE VTC2018-Spring in Porto
IEEE VTC 2018-Spring Organizing Committee

The 2018 IEEE 87th Vehicular Technology Conference will be held 3–6 June 2018 in Porto, Portugal. This semi-annual flagship conference of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society will bring together individuals from academia, government, and industry to discuss and exchange ideas in the fields of wireless, mobile, and vehicular technology.

VTC2018-Spring will coincide with the start of the tourist season in Porto, consistently rated as one of the best places to visit in Europe, and for good reason. Named best European destination for 2017, in the words of the New York Times, “Stunning 18th- and 19th-century buildings, new indie bars and restaurants and a laid-back vibe, facilitated by the excellent wine — it’s hard to find anything to dislike about Porto. Its walkable center is crammed with cobbled streets and balconies adorned with flowerpots, and the city’s love of food and design is apparent in concept stores and trendy restaurants offering innovative small plates. An ideal day in Porto combines both the grandeur of its history and its very up-to-the-minute cool.”

The theme of VTC2018-Spring will be "Defining the Future Mobile World". In addition to high-quality technical sessions, the conference will feature world-class plenary speakers, tutorials, workshops and technical as well as application sessions in, but not limited to, the following technical areas:

  1. Antenna Systems, Propagation, and RF Design
  2. Signal Transmission and Reception
  3. Cognitive Radio and Spectrum Management
  4. Multiple Antenna Systems and Cooperative Communications
  5. Radio Access Technology and Heterogeneous Networks
  6. Green Communications and Networks
  7. Ad-Hoc, M2M, and Sensor Networks
  8. Wireless Networks: Protocols, Security, and Services
  9. Mobile Satellite Systems, Positioning and Navigation
  10. Vehicular Communications, Networks, and Telematics
  11. Electric Vehicles, Vehicular Electronics, and Intelligent Transportation
  12. Future Trends and Emerging Technologies

The conference will also continue the trend of offering an innovative Industry Track, which will feature panels and presentations with industry leaders sharing their perspectives on the latest technologies. Each day will offer a technical theme linked to that day’s technical sessions, keynotes and industry track offerings.

With Europe being a nexus of collaborative workshop activity, VTC2018-Spring will offer a number of integrated workshops contributory to the technical program. Workshops provide invaluable and unique opportunities for researchers and industry practitioners to share their research and development results in areas of particular interest. Workshops will cover specific topics with a mix of regular papers, panel discussions, keynotes, and possibly poster presentations. Submissions of cutting-edge workshop proposals to complement the technical program of VTC2018-Spring are solicited especially in emerging areas of mobile and vehicular technologies.

Tutorials will be available at the conference to provide opportunities for researchers from academia and industry to learn about state-of-the-art research and development from experts in a given field. The IEEE VTC2018-Spring Technical Program Committee invites submission of tutorial proposals for half-day presentation on topics of interest to the conference.

New to VTC, the technical program for VTC2018-Spring will include poster sessions featuring presentations by authors of accepted papers to the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (TVT). This will provide an active outlet for TVT authors to present their work to a wide audience within their respective fields of interest. This unique element of the technical program is sure to initiate interesting and thoughtful discussions.
