From time to time, the VTS Board of Governors (BoG) finds it necessary to amend the Society's Bylaws. An amendment requires a two-thirds majority vote of the BoG plus approval of IEEE's Vice President for Technical Activities (VP-TA). At its 10 June 2026 meeting, the BoG approved a number of changes. The VP-TA approved the changes on 29 June 2026. The purposes of the amendments were the following:
- To “future-proof” the first position that may be used to qualify to run for Board of Governors.
- To update the minimum number of nominees to comply with new IEEE requirements
To update the description of the Standards Development Committee description in compliance with IEEE standards policies.
- To make the currently ad hoc Conference Planning Committee into a standing committee.
