The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Students and Young Professionals Mentoring Meet was held on 10 June 2026 in Nice, France, during IEEE VTC2026-Spring. Jointly organized by the IEEE VTS Young Professionals Committee and the IEEE VTS Education Committee, the event brought together students, young professionals, researchers, and industry experts for an evening of technical exchange, mentoring, and networking.
The event welcomed participants from universities, research institutes, and organizations around the world. The program opened with a technical presentation by Dr. Umer Salim from InterDigital, titled “Mobile Standards and 6G Vision.” The talk introduced the latest progress in 6G standardization and highlighted emerging research opportunities in future mobile networks. Participants actively engaged in the discussion, asking questions about 6G technologies, standards development, and future research directions.
Following the presentation, attendees continued their conversations during a networking and refreshment session. This provided an informal setting for participants to meet peers, exchange research interests, and build professional connections. A lucky draw was also held, with digital vouchers awarded to winning participants.
The event concluded with small-group mentoring sessions led by Dr. Taimoor Abbas, Dr. Chuan Heng Foh, and Dr. Umer Salim. Participants received guidance on research, career development, industry trends, and IEEE VTS involvement.
Overall, the mentoring meet was a valuable platform for early-career members to learn, connect, and engage with the VTS community.
