VTC2020-Spring was originally planned to be held in Antwerpen, Belgium. However, due to the rapid development of the situation with COVID-19, this became VTS’ first virtual conference.
Considering the entire situation the conference was a great success with 506 paid registrations and about 729 virtual attendees. The conference attracted 708 technical paper submissions, of which 549 technical papers were accepted for presentation in 75 oral sessions covering 11 technical tracks.
The conference began on Monday 25 May 2020 with eight educational tutorials and 11 workshops on cutting edge topics. Although tutorials and workshops were held virtually this time, we were very happy to experience very good attendance.
The virtual conference platform hosted six pre-recorded keynote presentations by speakers from both industry and academia, who provided us an overview of different applications of future communications technologies.
After each presentation, a live-streaming Q&A session was held.
The overall industry program included eight panels, where industry experts provided new insights into the future of communication technologies. In the end, it is our pleasure to say that, despite this year’s extraordinary situation, the virtual organization of VTC2020-Spring, especially in such a short period, was a great success.
Our gratitude goes to all of the technical members of the conference, and most especially to both IEEE Conference Support in NJ, and to VTS Conference Administrators Rodney Keele and Cerry Leffler, who all worked together to do a fantastic job in migrating the event into a virtual environment. |
