The National Capital
Chapter is a joint chapter in the Washington and Northern Virginia Sections. It
has met regularly since the early 1970s with monthly lunch meetings from
September through May.
A presentation is made at each meeting by an invited
guest speaker addressing topics related to railroad and rail transit technology
including vehicles, traction power, signaling, and system operation, planning
and construction.
Attendance is from a
broad spectrum of professionals in the Federal government, Amtrak, Washington
Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Maryland Transit Administration, rail
transit consultants, and manufacturers of transit products. Meetings are held
at the headquarters of the American Public Transit Association (APTA) in
Washington, DC.
