 As we head into a New Year, it is again with great pleasure
that I undertake my role as VP—Membership for 2017.
2017 will see the development of several initiatives within VTS that we hope will positively impact our members:
- More local society outreach by volunteer leaders
- More industry events
- More focus on practitioners
2017 will also be a year in which we will run our now traditional Membership Survey, which has monitored the pulse of members for the past decade. Through this survey, we have been able to respond to member needs: The Board of Governors always reviews the conclusions of the different editions of the survey, and takes stock of the positive and negative feedback, and, as a consequence, has been undertaking some major initiatives over the years, including:
- The revitalization of our Distinguished Lecturer program in 2010, now one of the largest and most dynamic within IEEE
- The development of new chapters across the globe to better serve the local needs of our members, and
- The development of the new VTS Resource Center, which compiles hours of educational material for our members
The Membership Survey is our formal, biennial way of
getting feedback, but please do not feel that you have to wait to receive
this survey to have your voice heard: if you have any comments or
suggestions about your membership in VTS, you should always feel free to
