This year’s fall edition of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2016-Fall) was held in Montréal, Canada, in September, with over 600 attendees. Taking advantage of the conference’s proximity, the Vehicular Technology (VT) Chapter of the IEEE Kitchener-Waterloo Section hosted three Distinguished Lectures and two technical seminars by international leading researchers before and after the conference:
- “Harnessing Quantum-Computing & Signal Processing in Wireless Communications” by VTS Distinguished Lecturer Dr. Lajos Hanzo (University of Southampton, UK)
- “VANET and Relay-by-Smartphone” by VTS Distinguished Lecturer Dr. Nei Kato (Tohoku University, Japan)
- “Broadband Mobile Communications for High Speed Vehicles: Challenges and Opportunities” by VTS Distinguished Lecturer Dr. Pingzhi Fan (Southwest Jiaotong University, China)
- “Mining Contexts of Passive Entities from Radio Frequency Sources” by Dr. Yusheng Ji (National Institute of Informatics, Japan)
- “Green Heterogeneous Wireless Networks” by Dr. Muhammad Ismail (Texas A&M University at Qatar)
The local VT community significantly benefits from the inspiring lectures and face-to-face discussions with these experts on current issues and future directions in mobile communications and networks research.
