The Seattle chapter of VTS operates as a joint chapter with IEEE
Communications Society (ComSoc). This chapter covers the western region of
Washington (State) and serves about 450 members. The majority of members
are from local industrial organizations, such as Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon.com,
AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile, as well as many other local mid- and small-size
companies. The chapter also interacts with academia (University of Washington,
Seattle University, other local colleges), and receives logistical support from
local industries and municipalities.
Each year, the Seattle joint chapter organizes many
technical seminars, delivered by local industrial experts as well as academic
researchers. The chapter also hosts many technical talks from both VTS and ComSoc
Distinguished Lecturers.
From time to time, the Seattle joint chapter organizes
technical workshops with other organizations. Together with ComSoc, the Seattle
chapter will host the IEEE 5G Summit
in November 2016.
