The recent increase in adopting the light rail transit (LRT) in semi-exclusive right-of-ways has led to addressing the challenge of interfacing and prioritizing the LRT operation when it comes to intersections with road vehicles. This demands a transit signal priority (TSP) solution with a signal timing strategy that gives the priority to LRT with the goal of reducing transit delay and improving reliability while minimizing the interruption to the intersecting road traffic.
