Recently, the monograph entitled “Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X)” written by Shanzhi CHEN's team from CICT/CATT was published by Springer. This is the first book dedicated to C-V2X, which is the most promising wireless communication technology for V2X communications and has become an essential enabling technology for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Automated Driving. It is the summary achievements from the authors team in theoretical research, technical innovations, and standardization of C-V2X in recent 10 years.
This book addresses principles, technologies, standards, and industrial practice of C-V2X. Firstly, it introduces the research background of C-V2X, and the diverse V2X applications with stringent performance requirements. Then the system architecture and technical standards are presented. Particularly, the two evolving stages of C-V2X, i.e., LTE-V2X and NR-V2X, are elaborated with insights of the technical principles and key technologies. In addition, the C-V2X related supporting technologies such as Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), network slicing, high definition map and high accuracy positioning, C-V2X security, C-V2X spectrum needs and planning, as well as industrial development and applications are introduced.
In closing, the book envisions future applications and technology evolution of C-V2X.
Dr. Chen took the lead in proposing LTE-V at the event of World Telecommunication Day (May 17) in 2013. LTE-V (i.e., LTE-V2X), as the first C-V2X wireless communication technology, integrates cellular communication mode and short-range direct communication mode in the world, establishes the basic system architecture and technical principle of C-V2X. The author team has devoted into the technical innovations continuously, promoted the international standardization of C-V2X in 3GPP jointly with industry partners worldwide. Dr. CHEN’s team becomes one of the most influential teams in both the academic and industrial circles of C-V2X.
Mr. Houlin Zhao, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), prefaced this book. He indicated that the publication of this monograph will play an important role in accelerating the evolution of C-V2X technology and its cross-industry applications, and in promoting technical innovations and industrial reform in the fields of automated driving, intelligent transportation, smart city, and so on. |
