From spectrum extensions using new radio (NR) technologies and multi-interface access points to network softwarization driven by network function virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN), the 5G communications continue to emerge through evolved technologies and new models of cellular operations.
Those changes in network architecture and data management will improve the resource availability and system scalability for future 5G networks. Considering a technology road-map for development, the IEEE 5G Initiative Series will be publishing articles on the state-of-the-art research material that are tutorial presented in a tutorial or survey style but also coveys new concepts and results to mark the milestones of 5G evolution.
The selected articles will cover a wide range of topics in general issues and feature topics in special issues to help readers and experts to get through understanding of 5G end-to-end communication features.
