VTS Chapter Profile – IEEE Malaysia ComSoc/VTS Joint Chapter

In 2017, the IEEE Malaysia ComSoc/VTS Joint Chapter has 211 members all over the country: university students, academics and private companies. The chapter committee consists of:

  • Chair: Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Aduwati Sali, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)
  • Vice-chair: Associate Professor Dr. Khaizuran Abdullah, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)
  • Secretary: Dr. Mardeni Roslee, Multimedia University (MMU)
  • Treasurer: Dr. Nur Idora Abdul Razak, Universiti Teknology MARA (UiTM)


IEEE Malaysia ComSoc/VTS Joint Chapter Executive Committees

As of August 2017, we have coordinated 63 activities this year:

  • 20 administration and coordination meetings, and MICC2017 preparation meetings
  • 17 technical activities, including a talk by VTS Distinguished Lecturer Prof. Abbas Jamalipour on the following topics:
    • Current and Future Research Challenges in Smart Grid Networks and the Internet of Things
    • Wireless Communications Techniques for Emergency and Disaster Situations
  • 15 education and membership development programs (MDPs) conducted at universities all over Malaysia. The programs are normally co-located with our Final Year Award events.
  • 11 social, promotion and professional activities, including programs to commemorate the Joint Chapter’s 10-year anniversary

The highlight of our volunteer activities is when the Joint Chapter was given the VTS 2017 Chapter of the Year Award. We pride ourselves in our dedication and passion for IEEE and engineering excellence; we are grateful to receive this award in recognition of our efforts.
