The conference site, Hangzhou, has enjoyed a prosperous history for over 2200
years. Formerly the national capital of China, it is currently the provincial
capital of Zhejiang. Hangzhou is one of the most renowned and delicate Chinese
cities, and is listed as a World Natural and Cultural Heritage site. In
September 2016, just prior to VPPC2016, Hangzhou was proud to host the G20
Summit. During VPPC2016, participants were amazed by the beauty and culture of
Hangzhou.
This
year marks the third time VPPC was held in China, where the pace of development
and commercialization of electric vehicles is accelerated. Hangzhou serves as a
great example in China for new energy buses, taxis and passenger cars. Consequently,
VPPC2016 aimed to promote clean technologies for future transportation systems,
not just in China but all countries around the world.
VPPC2016 received 396 digests (3–5 pages in length) from 23
countries and regions, finally accepted 245 full papers, thanks to the great
contribution of the 38 track chairs and special session chairs, and 305
reviewers. Papers were scheduled in 12 regular track lecture sessions and 6
special sessions, as well as in 5 dialogue sessions. Topics of the regular
tracks included:
- Energy Storage and Generation Components and Systems
- Power Electronics, Motor Drives and Electric Power Systems
- Vehicular Electronics and Intelligent Transportation Systems
- Control and Energy Management of Transportation Systems
- Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Transportation Systems
- Charging Systems and Infrastructures
Special session topics were:
- Contactless Charging for Electric Vehicles
- EMC Issues in Electric Vehicles
- Reliability and Durability Improvement of the Fuel Cell
Systems in FCEV
- Energy Management of Electrical Hybrid Energy Sources for
Zero Emission Vehicles
- EMR and Other Graphical Descriptions
- Higher
Education for Electric Vehicles and its Power and Propulsion
VPPC2016 also organized 3 tutorials presented by:
- Prof. Alain Bouscayrol and Dr. Ali Castiangs
- Prof. Z. Q. Zhu, and Prof. Daniel Hissel
- Prof.
Marie-Cécile Pera
Six keynote speeches were delivered by
- Prof. C.C. Chan
- Dr. Grzegorz Ombach
- Prof. Elena Lomonova
- Mr. Kimimori Hamada
- Prof. David Stone
- Dr. Zhengwei Zhao
Two
industry technical reports were presented by Qualcomm and Wolong Electric, covering
all aspects related to new technologies in vehicle power and propulsion. And in
addition, 10 industry exhibitions were arranged. VPPC2016 hosted 246 registered
participants, thanks to contribution of 27 local volunteer staff and 37
students from the College of Electrical Engineering at ZJU, as well as 62
on-site session chairs.
During
VPPC2016, VTS President Javier Gozálvez and Prof. Loïc Boulon introduced new
events of the IEEE VTS to the audience, whilst Prof. Alain Bouscayrol
introduced the policy of submitting extended papers to journals. Prof. Paulo
Pereirinha presented certificates for the 3 Best Paper Award winners.
After
the conference, nearly 40 attendees went on a technical tour hosted by Wolong
Electric, the largest producer of electrical machines and drives in China, and
an organizing partner of the conference.
Participants acknowledged that IEEE VPPC2016 was a fantastic
event in its technical content, industry exhibitions, social activities,
delicious food, and many other aspects. |
