WPNC, the annual European event on Positioning and
Navigation and energy efficient Communication continues to provide an
international platform for exchanging latest research results and inputs from
the industry. Wireless location has plays a center role in research and
businesses in the wider Wireless Communications area, as demonstrated by its
ever increasing range of applications including logistics, traffic engineering,
industrial production, retail, office and home automation, ambient assisted
living, convenience, luxury, security and many more.
In particular, major technological development efforts such
as the Internet of Things, Cyber Physical Systems and more recently Connected
Vehicles, are driving various advances in heterogeneous sensor data processing,
fusion, energy efficient networking and cooperation, context awareness, highly
automated information gathering and processing, privacy and security, etc., all
of which benefit or require location.
