The Innovative E-mobility and Cybersecurity for a Sustainable Future workshop was held on 25 June 2024, co-located with VTC2024-Spring.
This IEEE VTS Young Professionals (YPs) and Student event attracted 36 attendees to Singapore from around the world, to explore the latest advancements in vehicular IoT technologies.
The workshop served as a vibrant platform for the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge and for networking among students and researchers, focusing on the forefront of e-mobility and cybersecurity techniques within the vehicular IoT landscape.
Activities began with an inspiring address by VTS Distinguished Lecturer and VTS Education Committee Member Celimuge Wu, who highlighted the pivotal role of IEEE VTS in pushing the boundaries of technology. His talk, titled "How IEEE VTS Can Help Your Career Development," offered attendees valuable guidance on carving out successful careers in the industry.
Yue Cao (Wuhan University, China) delivered a comprehensive overview of the impact of connected and autonomous vehicles on modern transportation, emphasizing their role in enhancing mobility through smarter, safer, and more sustainable solutions. He covered key areas such as data security, network security, and application security, and discussed innovative charging modes like Vehicle-to-Vehicle charging, battery swapping, and wireless charging. Prof. Cao also addressed the cybersecurity challenges in E-mobility and proposed solutions, including blockchain-enabled technologies and advanced encryption methods.
The meeting concluded with an interactive student questionnaire session, where attendees shared their feedback and insights. Students highlighted the benefits of collaboration and the opportunity to cultivate new friendships. They expressed a strong desire for more frequent conferences, enhanced public speaking and presentation training, hands-on workshops, and additional activities for academic discussions.
