From time to time, the VTS Board of Governors (BoG) finds it necessary to amend the Society’s bylaws. An amendment requires a two-thirds vote of the BoG plus approval of IEEE’s Vice President for Technical Activities (VP-TA). At its 12 October 2020 meeting, the BoG approved a number of changes. The IEEE VP-TA approved these changes on 6 November 2020.

In summary, the major changes include:

1. Clarification of the duties of the Treasurer
2. Requirement that the majority of the VTS BoG Nominating Committee be voting members of the BoG
3. Compliance with IEEE policy for the number of required nominees
4. Compliance with the Society’s constitution on the procedure for appointing chief editors of VTS publications
5. Changes to the procedure for awards nominations, to expedite the process
6. Clarification of the bylaws amendment procedure
