VTS publications include IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (TVT),
IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine (VTM), and VTS Mobile World, the
Society’s monthly newsletter. VTS Mobile World is sent to all VTS
members electronically and also available online. It provides up-to-date
information about VTS programs and activities, and any other information
that is of interest to the community.
Both TVT and VTM publish peer-reviewed technical
papers in the three core areas of VTS:
- Mobile communications and networks
- Transportation systems
- Vehicular electronics
The journals present tutorial/survey papers that
provide an overview of the state-of-the-art research and development
activities in the areas, in addition to regular papers that report new
technical findings and results. The VTM aims to provide the technical
contents for a broad audience in the VT community, while the TVT is more
technically focused in a subject and has more depth for researchers and
engineers in that particular subject.
Both journals are indexed by Clarivate Analytics
(previously the Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson
Reuters). There are various performance measures for a journal, among
which a popular metric is impact factor (IF).
The IF indicates how well
a journal is cited over a two-year window. For example, the 2016 IF of
TVT is a ratio A/B, where A is the total number of times in 2016 that TVT
papers published in 2014 and 2015 are cited by all the indexed journals,
and B is the total number of TVT papers published in 2014 and 2015.
It is my great pleasure to report that both TVT and
VTM have a significant IF improvement in 2016, as shown in the following
table.

On behalf of the VTS Board of Governors, I would like
to thank
- Professors Michael Fang and Klaus David, the Editor-in-Chief of TVT
and VTM respectively, for their strong leadership in improving the journal
quality and reputation
- All our journal editors, for their professional integrity and
dedication to the journal editorial process
- All the reviewers for their technical competence in providing
meticulous reviews to improve the paper quality
- All the authors for sharing their research findings via our journal
Professor Michael Fang has just completed his two
terms as the TVT Editor-in-Chief. Thanks again, Michael, for a great job!
Starting 1 July 2017, Professor Nei Kato of Tohoku University in Japan
has been the new TVT Editor-in-Chief.
Professor Kato is a long-standing
member of the TVT editorial board. He was Area Editor in Wireless
Networks and Mobile Services. There is no doubt that Professor Kato will
continue to lead the journal to new heights!
Weihua is an elected member of the Board of
Governors and has been with University of Waterloo, Canada, since 1993,
where she is a Professor and a Tier I Canada Research Chair in Wireless
Communication Networks. She works on resource allocation and QoS
provisioning in wireless networks, and on smart grid. She was
Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2007-2013),
and the Technical Program Chair/Co-Chair of the IEEE VTC Fall 2017/2016.
She is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of
Engineering, a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada. |
