The IEEE VTS is pleased to announce the following individuals have been elected for the 2012-2014 VTS BoG:

- James Irvine
- Ted Rappaport
- Bob Shapiro
- Weihua Zhuang
Under the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Bylaws, 15 Governors are elected by
the membership to manage the Society’s resources, represent the Society within
IEEE and arrange for technical publications, conferences and other benefits to
the members. The Governors serve for three years with five Governor positions
opening up each year. The Board of Governors (BoG) are expected to participate in
managing all aspects of the Society. Meeting a minimum of twice each year, BoG
members may be called to special meetings throughout the year as requested by
the President.
Duties expected of the Governor’s include attending 50% of the
meetings, service on a committee assignment and to remain engaged in BoG
business. Governors are also tasked with encouraging the exchange of
both technical and professional information among Society members. This function
is accomplished by means of:
- Sponsoring technical conferences and seminars
- Publication of technical journals and books
- Awards of recognition for excellence
- Participation in the development of standards
- Membership support activities
